Basic Home Maintenance Guide

This addition of the Basic Home Maintenance Guide is the first installment of what we hope will become a fine tradition of First Nations housing professionals helping First Nations housing professionals. This guide was donated to the Housing Knowledge Base by one of our registered First Nations Housing Knowledge Base members. With some editing by our team to generalize the document to make it applicable to any First Nations community, this document provides tenants and occupants some useful information regarding lease agreements, tenant/occupant responsibilities, basic home maintenance tips, and emergency preparedness.

Most every community is likely to have created something of this nature which in the past would prove useful to their own community, but only to their own community. Now, with the First Nations Housing Knowledge Base, we can start collecting these tools and making them available to all of our participating communities. Over time, this 'toolbox' will mature and grow and eventually become an authoritative source of information and education for all First Nations housing professionals.

This document is truly representative of the spirit and intent of the First Nations Housing Knowledge Base, namely to build community and strengthen all members by sharing knowledge and experience. We'd like to sincerely thank our first donating member, who has chosen to remain anonymous, for their contribution to our community, and we look forward to soon adding many more tools from many other communities.
