Funding Opportunities

The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation's (CMHC) On-Reserve Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) provides funding for major repairs, emergency repairs and adaptations to improve the health and safety of on-reserve housing.

Starting January 2024, all streams of the Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program including Regular, Disabilities, Rental, Conversion, Secondary/Garden, the Emergency Repair Program and Home Adaptations Seniors' Independence Program will be consolidated into a single and enhanced program called the On-Reserve Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program. The Shelter Enhancement program (renovation stream) will continue as a separate program.

If your home is lacking basic facilities, needs major renovations, needs adaptations for elderly care or accessibility, or requires any repairs, in areas such as structural, electrical, plumbing, heating (HVAC), fire safety, overcrowding, or accessibility, then you may qualify for financial assistance through the CMHC of up to $60,000.00. If you live on-reserve in the north or remote areas the amount may increase by 25%. However, if you have already made the repairs, they will not be eligible for the funding, and for the work you are applying for, there are timelines. All work must begin within three months of approval and the entire project must be completed in 12 months.

The CMHC merged all the funding streams to simplify funding access and flexibility in housing management. To be eligible for these funding opportunities, your household income must be at or below the established limit, and that is based on your location.
